He Kirimana Memorandum of Understanding
1. Purpose
Ka tû tçnei kirimana hei whakamana i te kaupapa Toitû te iwi
TKAA seeks alliances with organisations committed to realising the vision of Toitû te iwi - Resilient, sustainable, vibrant Mâori nations.
The purpose of this document is to:
1.1 Formalise a relationship based on the principles of pono, tika and aroha
1.2 Determine how the relationship will be of benefit to both parties
1.3 Confirm our joint commitment to provide the best quality service by Mâori for Mâori
1.4 Determine how the relationship will be sustained
2. Associate Iwi Agency commitment to Te Korowai Aroha o Aotearoa
To embrace the vision and principles of Te Korowai Aroha o Aotearoa to support the advancement and continued development of the whânau, hapû and iwi of Associate Iwi Agencies, in the area of Iwi wealth and wellbeing, in keeping with the direction set in the Associate Iwi Agency strategy.
3. Terms of Reference
In order to implement this policy Te Korowai Aroha o Aotearoa actively upholds and promotes:
3.1 the independence and interdependence of Mâori nations as confirmed in the 1835 Declaration of Independence and Te Tiriti o Waitangi 1840.
3.2 the Maataatua Declaration and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
3.3 the establishment and implementation of an Indigenous Framework validating the Mâori World View
4. Proposed Mutual Benefits
Associate Iwi Agency seek a relationship that is mutually beneficial to both Te Korowai Aroha o Aotearoa and the whânau, hapû and iwi of the Associate Iwi Agency. One of mutual respect in the context of inter-Iwi relationships, and one where we strive together towards the long term socio-economic advancement and wellbeing of Mâori.
